    Tweed jacket

I am looking to pick up a tweed jacket and waistcoat. I saw that most of the prices range from $300.00-$400.00 new. I did see a company on line called kilt and Jacks that had some advertised for $160.00. Knowing that with traditional highland attire you usually get what you pay for, I am skeptical. Does anyone have any experience with that company or have other suggestions? Thanks.

    Tweed Jacket

Chaps, I assume you are referring to the "Prince Argyle Jacket" on their web site.

From reviews I have read previously you might not even get what you pay for as the workmanship is inferior. I looked at them for similiar reasons and decided to keep looking in the used market. Definitely got the whole made in Pakistan vibe. I am sure you can get reasonable prices and quality from Pakistan makers but my impression at the time was this was not one of those instances.

Oddly enough I can't find where I read the reviews. I had thought it was on Farcebook but I see no review although the page was created in 2017 which is strange and when i googled 'kilt and jacks review' there is a Farcebook page listed and in the text/description below it shows

Kilt & Jacks - Kilt and Jacks manufacturing unit, 73130 - Rated 4.6 based on 98 Reviews "FRAUDULANT & MISREPRESENTED MERCHANDISE. If I could give ...

Now I believe 4.6 is out of five possible stars is good but the whole fraudulent thing ?????? When I follow the link a FB page appears stating the content isn't available at the moment.

I did find a review on this page https://www.scamadviser.com/check-we...ltandjacks.com
It gave 1 out of five stars for their kilt purchase

I do usually keep an eye on e-bay as I did pick up a nice used Argyle for a good price. I was just looking at other options as well. I will probably end up buying one from Scotland as I will want it to stand up over time.

Thanks to those who provided input.

Great. I did not need to be reminded of that particular temptation.

Depending on your size requirements, you might want to check out St Kilda/Gaelic Themes clearance: https://stkildastore.com/Clearance/J...-Various-Sizes

I almost bought a jacket and waistcoat from them as separates, but they informed me that the only way to sure that jacket/waistcoat would match is to by as a set (and they did not have my size in the matched sets sadly). A pretty good deal if you're a long size or you don't mind if the jacket and waistcoat don't quite match.
