I am not being mischievous here, but if the "jackets and waistcoats are beautiful" and "considerably more expensive" than those you have in mind, then why not wait a while to save up the money to buy the more "beautiful" garments? With the greatest of respect, I would have thought you of all people would have the completely justifiable wish of looking your very best as a professional musician.

I'll also recommend House of Labhran, I'll be enjoying this for decades to come. Well worth it. I also like check jackets labhran.jpg

Richard you could have a jacket made by any competent men’s tailor you trust if you give him an existing kilt jacket to work from. I’m sure at your height you’ve dealt with one or two. The tweed can be ordered from various sources: https://www.huddersfieldfinefabrics.com/ https://www.bookster.co.uk/
And many others!
May or may not be a more economical option, certainly may be easier to work with someone closer than the U.K. especially fine tuning the fit. Nothing can replace the actual proper fitting of a jacket while it is being made! I would think this may be of some importance to ensure a tailored look while playing the pipes.
