    Uses for Tartan Besides Kilts

    Hello,

My son’s pipe band has about 2 yards of tartan left over from a bolt that they ordered for band kilts. I am looking for suggestions for what can be made with it for the band’s yearly raffle.

    Ideas I’ve had:
    Scarves/Shawls - I would love to know sizing/finishing ideas
Aprons- buying plain black or white aprons and putting the tartan on for the pockets.
Towels- putting an appliqué tartan design on towels for pipers

If anyone has any other ideas, I would love to have them!

    Thank you,
    carrie

A 2 yard piece at full width is a good enough amount to make a nice shawl. 50"x50" with a cutout to fit around the neck.

Perfect for taking off the chill of an evening.

Purses and other bags. Plush toys. Keychains. As embellishment on just about anything you can think of! Throw pillows. Hair accessories. Maybe a browse of some sites selling Scottish gifts and fashion might give you some ideas?
