Source for inexpensive Glengarry bonnets?

A couple of the Oneida beadwork artists that I know (including the man who beaded my sporran) are interested in working on beaded Glengarry bonnets.



Today, they are most often made of soft velvet as part of a woman's traditional regalia. Both artists are interested in working on *actual* Glengarry bonnets, and designing them for men to wear, too.

Can any of you recommend a good source where they could order Glengarry bonnets in quantity without breaking the bank?

Yes. made in Pakistan but the quality rivals the more expensive UK made hats. And in my personal opinion may be better.

Well it depends on how you define "actual".

I would define it as Glengarries made in the traditional way, the way they've always been made, the way they're still made by legitimate Scottish makers, and worn by the military, and by discerning civilians.

They are a shaped single piece of knit wool.

They're pretty expensive. Probably the most well-known maker is Robert Mackie.

Inexpensive Glengarries are nearly always made in a different way, being pieced together out of several cut-out pieces of woven fabric, like shirts and pants are made. Traditional Scottish bonnets (both Glengarries and Balmorals) are made more like socks are made.

Given the price-point you have in mind, you'll end up with mass-produced Pakistani Glengarries.
