"Those Bloody Kilts" The Highland Soldier in The Great War

For any one interested in WW1, Commonwealth Highland Regimental history, a more personal view of soldiers during The Great War, or history of the hard wearing kilts: i would humbly suggest "Those Bloody Kilts", very well researched and written book by Thomas Greenshields, released in June '19 by Helion & Company. There is much information regarding the trials and tribulations of wearing the kilt in such an demanding environment and the many soldiers refusal to give up the kilt for trousers, as well as the many imaginative ways they adapted the kilt to suit the conditions. At over 500 pages it's a bit of a long read however i found it very interesting and enlightening. Includes many photos and colour plates. It's available on Amazon and might be a wee bit expensive for some ($50 in Canada) but i could not help adding it to my personal library. Perhaps you could request it through your local public library.

Just bought a copy from a seller on amazon (not amazon itself) for $30 including shipping.

    Thanks for the heads up!
