    Custom Dress Sporran Maker

I have a tanned fur-on blue wildebeest backskin with exceptionally nice color and markings that would make a lovely dress sporran. Are there any sporran makers in the US that could make something suitable from this skin?

I’m not adverse to using someone in Canada or Scotland as long as customs and import/export laws allow shipment of tanned skins. Any suggestions are appreciated.

There's a guy in/near San Diego (California) named Billy Lang who does saddles etc and also fantastic sporrans.

He's on Facebook but I just checked his page and he doesn't have any photos of his sporrans. They're a sideline for him.

You might be better off with a fulltime sporranmaker, hopefully somebody will chime in with one.

Thanks very much for the suggestion and lead OCRichard. I will keep looking.

I have exchanged notes with the AfroCeltic sporran group in Capetown and they suggest that it is best to not have a full hide sporran due to abrasion and wear causing hair loss. The do make a very nice sporran that we would call semi-dress that might be the best use of the backskin.
