    another mislabelled Ebay photo

This group of photos are said to be of "Military Guards" (perhaps the seller is thinking of The Scots Guards?)

    They are not.

I do believe that three of the four photos show members of the Edinburgh City Police Pipe Band.

I'm not very good at dating photos based on the cars, but there are a number of cars here to go by. I can only guess around 1950 or the early 1950s.

The Drum Major; note the castle motif on his baldric.

Two pipers; note the Police Dice of the feather bonnets, and the policeman in ordinary uniform in the background.

Two drummers; you can see the cap-badge fairly well.

This photo is being sold with the others but as you can see shows pipers in ordinary kit and not in Edinburgh Police PB kit.

You can see the old Volkswagen bus/van in the background which should date the photo. (EDIT: I see this model was introduced in 1950, and I read that "early 1950s" models had the small rear window.)

I'm confident that the piper on the left is a much better player than the one on the right. I wonder how they ended up with this gig, or what the gig was.

My guess for what it is worth, would be more like late 1950's early 1960's.
