Thanks for pointing this out; I certainly don't need another jacket but have been looking for a brown kilt jacket for a little bit so I decided to take the plunge.

The jacket arrived today (actually Friday but since we had Hurricane Dorian arrive on Saturday, I couldn't pick it up until today).

I love the colour; chestnut brown tweed with some red, orange and yellow in the weave. It is very heavy and is in great shape although it is slightly snug across the shoulders and I can't button the jacket. While I don't typically button a kilt jacket, all of my other jackets can be buttoned so I'm not 100% sure I'll keep the jacket. However, I've been looking for a brown tweed jacket for a while so I'm leaning toward keeping it and, since I've been focused on dropping a little weight, hopefully that will improve the fit.

I don't know if your jacket has enough material to work with, but tailors can sometimes let out the seam that runs down the middle of the back to give your shoulders a little more wiggle room.

The jacket is a great color and works well with your kilt and hair.

Thanks for the feedback; not sure I'd let out a vintage jacket but hopefully if I keep weight-loss going in the right direction, it won't be an issue.

Sizing on vintage jackets is so tricky!

Just to find out the size I should be shopping for on Ebay, I did the typical "armpit to armpit" measurement on five vintage tweed jackets I had at that time.

I found that there was, strangely enough, little correlation between the actual measurement and how the jackets fit me.

A jacket with a larger measurement might feel snug, while another jacket with a smaller measurement might feel too loose. It didn't make any sense.

So I use measurements as only a rough guide (size labels are even worse) and realise that I won't know how a jacket fits until I buy it and wear it.

Agreed! This was slightly bigger through the shoulders than my smallest jacket that fits comfortably so I assumed I was good. I think it is mostly that the fabric of this one is much heavier than the other.

However, it passed the most important test as my wife said it didn't look too tight!
