My first felting project- Tam O' Shanter

Here is my first foray into felting of knitting. I completed the tam over about a week a little at a time. I used Lion Brand Fisherman's Yarn in Nature's Brown and 1 1/2 inch black grosgrain ribbon.

I developed the pattern myself and used Thompson's third pattern for cockade from 'So You're Going To Wear the Kilt'. I will credit a free non-felted pattern from Lion Brand for a baseline understanding of the neccessary construction.
While many here have successfully used a pattern from Ravelry, I refuse to, at present. I did consider it, but with Ravelry's new policy this year, I just couldn't. I will say I am glad XMarks is intentionally apolitical and focuses on kilts and Celtic culture.
