    Bushfires at Ballandean

    https://m.stanthorpeborderpost.com.a...ccvFmPVxXE0nJ4

My family has just been evacuated from our home at Ballandean near Stanthorpe in Queensland due to the bushfires. Unfortunately i'm still in Western Australia for work and flying home on next available flight. My wife had enough time to pack a few things on the way out and told me she grabbed my kilts before she left. I said just go...
Anyway, family are safe. Now waiting to hear about our house and property.

Best wishes for a good outcome. Difficult time for many over your side of the Tasman with these early season fires. Take care all.

Hope your house and property are OK. Must be very alarming for all concerned.

It's certainly a bad situation with something like 65 fires burning Queensland . . . and it's only September!

Hoping for the best outcome for you and others in that area.

Our fingers are crossed for all who are affected in yet another of the world's natural disasters. I hope the cricket news brings a wee bit bit of cheer to all down under.

Thank you all for your kindness and support. At this time my wife and children are now safe in Brisbane and so far our property has escaped harm. I'm in Perth overnight and fly home in the morning. I'll update again when I know more.
    Thanks again,
    -Andrew

Quite fitting we're keeping the ashes

The thought did occur to me, but in the circumstances, I thought it was prudent not to mention it!

Fire across the road this morning. Rural Fire Brigade has advised not to come home today as a precaution. Doesn't look too bad in the photo but there is a lot of bush out there. Plenty of crews in the area and they're fairly positive we'll be ok. Just wait and see.

Our house and property have survived intact. We arrived home yesterday afternoon. Fires burned the vineyards and bush across the road but no buildings were lost in our area thanks to the tireless efforts of the local and interstate fire crews. Still very smoky and some smaller fires burning but much less of a concern today.
