Greeting from Kansas

I join your ranks today as a newbie kiltie, having only obtained and worn my first kilt but a day less than two weeks ago to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. You can see my outfit in my avatar.

I have to say it was far more comfortable, and confidence boosting, than I was expecting. And, of course, now i want more. An 8 yard Isle of Skye is calling my name! That and USA kilts Casual in Albannach.

I grew up being told we were part Scottish ancestry, on my father's side (Young). But now my mother can't remember ever telling us that, and sadly Dad disappeared from our lives when we were very young. She cut off ties with his family, so I have had to resort to shot in the dark genealogy to learn the truth, and an incoming DNA test. If anyone can help, that would be awesome.
