    Greetings from Kansas City

    Hello all!

I am a professional pianist currently living in Kansas City, but I grew up in Portland, Oregon. My family has always been proud of our Scottish heritage, but I only recently got into wearing kilts and I have to say I am absolutely in love. It's the most comfortable I've ever been in my life! It is fast becoming an addiction, and I look forward to purchasing more kilts and accessories and learning more and more. I went to my first Burns Supper earlier this year and I'm excited to actually wear a kilt to the next one!
Attached is a picture of me with my first kilt. I know it's probably traditional to tuck the shirt in but I liked the look and it's comfortable. Thoughts?

    Casual kilt

    Hi,

The look you are sporting there is what I'd call 'casual kilt' and it's perfectly acceptable - it's the way I'd wear my kilt with a rugby shirt or T-shirt or with a woolly sweater when the weather's cooler. It's probably not recommended for that next Burns Supper or any kind of more formal occasion, but if you're just wearing a kilt instead of trousers for doing ordinary things on an ordinary day then you should certainly continue doing it. If being comfortable by wearing that shirt outside your kilt means you wear the kilt more often then that's got to be a very good thing.

Well met and welcome John. Many sweaters are worn over the top of kilts and nary a head is turned. Be comfortable (shirt tucked or not) and kilt on new friend. Glad to have you here.
