    Halloweek!

    Hi All,

    Since the subject of kilts and costumes always comes up this time of year, I thought I would share a few photos of how I incorporated kilts into costumes during the past week.

    First off, an olive drab Sportkilt becomes part of Game of Thrones' Ser Jorah Mormount's outfit

    OK, OK I was just keeping the seat warm for my wife (As Melissandre, The Red Woman)

    My USA Kilt's Galbraith tartan very much becomes the attire of a very model of a modern Major-General

    A friend asked me to be her photo model for a class she is taking and said I could dress in any manner I wanted , as long as I brought a few props for this week's project. I said sure and went for FULL ON HIGHLAND FORMAL!

    Photo credits to Debbie Sy.

    Two really cool photos

    and one silly one...

    I'll spare you the other three outfits worn this week for various activities and events as they were not kilted.

    Cheers (and Happy Belated Halloween!)

    Jamie

    Great assembly of kit! I like the smallsword you carried with that full dress outfit - who made it?

    I bought the replica through Amazon and it is from an Indian company called Deepeeka. It is apparently a little on the heavy side for a small sword of that time period, but it has a nice balance. I think it not only handsome, but am also pleased with the fit and finish.

    Cheers

    Katia,

    Greetings fellow dancer!

    I'm a Scottish Country Dancer, the co-manager of the San Jose Class, I sit of the Board for the San Francisco branch of the RSCDS, and (which I'm most proud of) I am a member of the Red Thistle Dancers performance group (we just celebrated our 500th performance!)

    The Very Model of a Modern Major-General outfit was for our class Halloween party.

    Here is a photo from the dance of me and my lovely wife doing an all round pousette

    Cheers

    Brings to mind Scott's Marmion...canto the third

    Really enjoy the "heroic" nature of your wit as reflected in these excellent
    photos. They speak to the pride of heritage that beats in every
    Highland chest, that has never been captured better than by
    Sir Walter Scott; to wit:

    "And ever, by the winter hearth,
    Old tales I heard of woe and mirth,
    Of lovers' sleights, of ladies' charms,
    Of witches spells, of warriors' arms;

    Of patriot battles, won of old
    By Wallace wight and Bruce the bold;
    of later fields of feud and fight,
    When, pouring from their Highland height,
    The Scottish clans in headlong sway
    Had swept the scarlet ranks away."

    well done, Sir!

    Deepeeka has a good reputation - they make everything from ancient Greek and Roman gear to 19th c. weapons. I have two smallswords that I use for 18th c. reenacting - one with a triangular sectioned colichemarde blade from G. Gedney Godwin and one with a straight double-edged blade from U.S. Sword and Uniform (this firm supplied the swords to the Colonial Williamsburg Governor's Palace). Both swords are very light and nimble. Your smallsword appears to be very elegant. Good acquisition!
