    What day is it

There is a loud tartan in yellow, red, blue and white in commemoration of some important day in Scottish history. I can't remember its name. Can you tell me what it is?

As I age I find it often takes a day or two to recall some things i want to remember right now.

Could it be "Culloden" in modern colours, or, failing that "Jacobite".

You probably mean the Declaration tartan

It's based on the two Scottish flags.

Here's the thread about this tartan

Thanks, Richard, that's the one. The only thing I could come up with is proclamation day, but I knew that wasn't quite right. I find as I age, and its odd, is that I often can remember the first letter of something but not the full word, until eventually the full word appears. The letter d came to mind but nothing further.

    You're welcome!

I too often remember only the first letter- strange how the brain works!

I've come to use mnemonic devices to remember streets, people's names, etc.

Sadly the fact that I work at a place where everybody has to wear name-tags functions as an enabler for my inability to remember names.

About that tartan, funny that one man's "loud" is another man's "stunning". Yes to both, but I do admire the design, because it does something quite difficult to do well: make a tartan out of a flag. This tartan took on a yet harder task: combining two flags.
