    Hand Knit Kilt Hose

After knitting a few pairs of garter ties, I decided to see if I could figure out how to knit a pair of kilt hose. I wanted to knit a pair for my son as I haven't found any locally that are small enough (he's six) and the youth ones I've found are either black or white. So, since I had some red yarn on hand, I started with the pattern here:

And tried to see how things went. The first sock was way too small but good practice for the pattern and tension. So, the next one and its mate turned out pretty well.

And, after weaving in the ends, he tried them out with his kilt.

Well done! They look great with the ‘loud’ McLeod kilt!

Well, after about a month of knitting with fine yarn, I finished the first of the pair using the same pattern but for an adult. The combination of lighter yarn and much longer leg/foot made it a much longer project. However, I think it turned out pretty well! Now casting on for the mate.

Most of the province was closed for an ice storm today so I finished off the second one today. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how these turned out.
