    I'd purchase them if I didn't have to sew the buttons on myself. But alas, I'm not set up to even hand make the things I want.

    Coming from a COMPLETE newbie at sewing, hand-sewing isn't that difficult if you have some time.

    Oh, I have plenty of time and knowhow, especially for buttons, just not the funds to buy the gaiters and extra materials needed.

    I rather fancy those Gaiters.... just nothing to do with kilts or cold weather wear!

    If I recall, there is historic evidence that indicates that kilted regiments did indeed adopt those gaiters or Native-styled leggings for use in North America. And I can tell you that they do keep the legs nice-and-warm so they are more appropriate for colder weather than bare legs.
