    what on earth...

    ...is this??

Certainly one of the strangest kilt-related things I've seen on Ebay, ever.

It looks like some Brigadoon type theme outfit. Absolutely horrendous!

    I think it’s a (circus) clown’s costume.

(Actually, it seems to be a fancy dress costume).

Yes, I noticed what appeared to be a clown on the label. Definitely an intentionally silly costume piece. But some poor sucker is probably going to buy it and wear it to a Highland Games!

Karnevalsweirts is a large costume store in Germany. They have outlets in Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Münster, Dortmund, Essen, and Würselen.

I actually saw almost the exact outfit at my last Highland Games. Except the guy had added a muckle sword over his shoulder.
He was with another guy who must have bought his outfit at the same store but with some great kilt looking thing on the bottom. And a sword of course.
They were both with women sporting fairy wings.

    Thanks!

Now "karneval" is obvious enough, and I've seen Swierts as a last name, but I don't know what "swierts" or "wierts" means in German.

Once I saw for sale on the internet a ‘highlander’ Halloween costume of a very similar nature. The main difference was a large foam phallus strapped between the wearers legs and meant to hang out the bottom of the ‘kilt’.

    Bloody disgraceful.
