    San Antonio Highland Games: Canceled

For those of you who were hoping to attend the San Antonio Highland Games in early April this year, there's bad news. It's been canceled, along with virtually every other public event in the country.

    https://www.sahga.org/

Unfortunately, this year's event was supposed to host the 2020 worldwide gathering for Clan Colquhoun. It was going to be probably the only chance in my lifetime to meet my clan chief. Alas, that's not to be.

    Tobus:

I think they’re calling it a postponement (according to the email I received), and are hoping to reschedule for the Fall. Time will tell.

That’s a bummer about your clan gathering.

    Cheers,

    SM

Hmm, interesting. Their website calls it a cancellation with no mention of rescheduling. I hope they do indeed hold it later this year!

The email I received said SA Games have been cancelled, but that the Kerr County Celtic Festival was still on for October 10-11.

I received an email from one of the Clan Maxwell Society members in San Antonio members that contained what I’m thinking was a copy/pasted text message that read:

“I just heard from Larry Sears and we are cancelling the Highland Games to the fall. Larry asked us to notify people. Please share with others. Carolyn Christy”

Larry Sears is a founding member of the SAHGA.

I’m taking the “cancelled to the Fall” portion to mean that they’re hoping to reschedule.

Hope your info is correct. My email is from Mary Ellen (Clan Gunn) - you're an addressee.

    John:

I hope so too. I was just wanting to pass on the information I’d received beyond Mary Ellen’s email — be it “inside baseball” or wishful thinking.

It does seem improbable that the SAHGA would be able to reschedule the event for the Fall and then have another in the Spring.

Looks like their Facebook page is already showing the dates for 2021...

Hope to see you gentlemen at the Kerr County event in October, if not sooner.

    Cheers,
