Hi RL1 - so sorry I totally missed this. Things were a bit chaotic here last week. I'll look at your #s this morning and get back to you.

Waist: 23 1/4" / 21 1/4
Hip: 25" / 25"
Does this sound right?
It has worked out as
25 pleats
7/8" at the Waist
1" at the Hips
8 5/16" fell
By the way if you look at my avatar I am pleating to the thin silver line to the right of the wide red, and the wide red is my centre apron line.
This sounds like it will work fine! Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks Barb, no problem life gets in the way sometimes
Managed to finish the pleats after ripping out a few times, looks ok and the lines are close.

I assume that the stitching will mould into the wool better after pressing.

Out of interest, why do we use the beeswax on the thread?

OK so I have found out that I am not good at kilt making lol
Pleats are wrong and do not taper correctly, so the waist to too big, and the fell is too tight.
My ability to sew is also well below par.
End result, well I have spent 10 days and £150+and gotten very sore fingers to end up with a kilt that I will probably not wear.
Shame really, but the journey through the TAoK was very interesting.

Have you finished the entire kilt, or are you only part way done?

Finished apart from the lining
I should have checked it during the build

Ah - OK. Yes, measuring as you go along is important. I put advice on that on pages 80-81, but it isn't in the steps - it's in the "more advice on pleating" boxes, and I probably should have put it in bold.
So - would you like to Zoom and we can talk about what to do? If so, send me a PM, and we can chat.
