Wow look how open they're playing "C"! The PM was one of THOSE guys like "I want to see those fingers come all the way off!"

And no "open C" in that band!

Hmmmmm, I don't think so Richard. The two pipers on the flanks are clearly playing D while the piper in the centre is playing C or else about to execute a D throw which which would be consistent with the other two who are already on D. An open C is the top finger on your right hand or the pointy finger while the birl finger would be off.

Did they come with those Zulu spears through them that made them look like leftover cocktail snacks ?

No doubt, the Pipers were "special" targets.

Too be fair, not everyone enjoys the sound of the pipes.

    I love the pipes, myself.

My son is a drummer and he thinks that pipers are thick. (I know a fair bit about music and I don't buy that drummer's propaganda).

Anyway, the Transvaal, Khyber pass and various other bleak places on Earth have bleaching drones sticking out of the ground here and there. You can't get much braver than leading an infantry advance playing the pipe. The last time that our army was led into battle by a piper (to my knowledge) was in Normandy in 1944. The attack fared about the same as a charge at Culloden :

Sadly, the public is exposed to more bad piping than good piping.

Because a piper's propensity to play in public is in inverse proportion to his ability.
