    Maple Leaf Tartan

Can someone direct me to any Canadian businesses that carry the Maple Leaf tartan (Either 13 or 16oz.). Perhaps even a business that can supply a well made kilt in the aforementioned tartan?

    Thanks much

Ask for Lisa. Tell her you would like to inquire about -

    KKSD/CTST/MAP

The KKSD is the product code for their premium 8yrd 16oz kilt
The CTST refers to 16oz Lochcarron fabric
And the MAP is the code for the Maple Leaf Tartan.

Spoke with Lisa at Burnett's & Struth this afternoon. A very helpful and consumer friendly company. New maple leaf tartan kilt ordered.
    Thanks again Steve.
So, does the rabble have any input about hose colour and other accessories?

Your sporran is utterly independent of the tartan. Formal is formal; daywear is daywear. Similarly, your jacket will depend on the venue you're planning to attend.

For Maple Leaf tartan, I rather fancy either claret hose to tone in or else something wildly different to contrast and set it off.

Congratulations; I'm sure you'll be more than pleased.

So, I just have to ask. Did you mention to Lisa that it was me that recommended her to you? Did she then hang up on you?

See, I have known Lisa for a long time. Even though we are both in Canada, every winter when I would call to place orders for Lochcarron fabric, I would rub in that here in Victoria we had flowers blooming in January, while she would be digging out of snow drifts.

And when ever I had a customer asking for a short suspense turn around on a kilt I would call Lisa and see if she could get fabric to me in under an hour.

Other times when I had a customer in the shop asking about a rare or unusual Tartan I would tell them, "Don't worry, I'll just call Lisa. It has been an hour since I called and bothered her so she won't really mind yet another call from me".

I'm pretty sure that there were times that she would see my phone number on her call display and groan - "Oh no, it's that guy again."

Well, i did mention your first name and you were from BC. Then i dropped the codes on her "KKSD/CTST/MAP" to ensure the order placed was exactly as i wanted ("i want a 16oz. kilt in the Canadian tartan and Steve from BC recommended i call you to ensure i ordered this..."). She was rather quiet or reserved at the beginning of the conversation, but seemed more talkative the longer we spoke. So yeah, i'm pretty sure she knew exactly who sent me. If only i'd known; i would have asked her about the weather.

For that tartan, perhaps an olive green or gold might be nice if you want to not use the red.

I have a Maple Leaf Tartan kilt. Hose colours that I think work well are browns, khaki, forest green, Lovat green, mustard...

My thanks to all for the advice. For colour of hose, i'm really leaning towards the olive green or khaki, mostly because i already have hose in those colours. But there appears to be many other appealing options i had not considered. Tweedhead shows a fine example in this post:

It was viewing this post last fall that first planted the seed, you might say.
Note: Honestly, i'm probably the only one who would say this.
