    Hunting Stewart ancient?

This kilt-skirt has a label stating "Hunting Stewart ancient".

I've never seen Hunting Stewart done in these colours.

For comparison here's a more usual Hunting Stewart ancient.

    and Hunting Stewart weathered

I've never seen it in those colors either. It might be me, but I find it hard to see the broad black lines between the yellow and red. Looking at it, I wouldn't have thought it was actual Hunting Stewart.

It's strange for sure, a "fashion" variant I would say.

Comparing the skirt to the Hunting Stewart Ancient kilt right below it, it looks like the green bands are still green, but the black bands have been changed to brown.

Those shades look like a recent fashion variation that are often referred to as Antique Colours; a particularly meaningless term.

Out of curiosity, was this made in the past couple years?

(Just wondering if they're going for that "Outlander" aesthetic-- weren't the tartans in that show {it was a show, not a movie, right?} extreme "weathered" versions?)

(To be fair, I kind of like it, though not because of Outlander, the book of which I wasn't that fond of.)

The Outlander tartans were nearly identical to MacKay in weathered colours.

Here's MacKay as woven by D C Dalgleish starting in 1949 in the colour-scheme they invented and called "reproduction" colours.
Later Lochcarron began weaving the same colour-scheme calling it "weathered" colours.

Here's one of the Outlander tartans. They left out a few narrow lines.

Here's a length of MacKay weathered

Here's the main character's tartan outfit
