Firefighter's Memorial Tartan in the Grand Canyon

Made my 4th raft trip down the Grand Canyon last week. Wore the Firefighter's Memorial Tartan from USA Kilts in Casual. Lost my camera to sand, but a friend took these pics at our camp at River Mile 110.

Gotta love the insanity...USA Kilts bent over backwards to find this for me at the last minute, paid for the fast shipping to get it here in time, packed it down into the canyon, begged some pics from a friend after I lost my camera...all for not a single response or comment....okay fine...I don't need...just thought maybe someone would appreciate the effort or the pics...

Did get 100 views...that's good eh?

Oh well, the canyon already has me right sized...we are dust compared to the bazillion year old rocks and universe at night....

I enjoyed it, and that's what counts.

Oh, background is Comanche Peak if that matters.

This is the first I saw your post. Nice pics; did you hike from the rim to the river? That is a bear of a hike; hard on the knees. I did it part way years ago. The following Monday was so sore I hobbled from my car to my office at work - up to the 3rd floor. Stairs.
The town of Snowflake now has someone else who wears kilts besides me; I saw him in the post office setting up a new mailbox, wearing a kilt. Good to know I am not the only one.
Did a day trip to Phoenix last week; it was 118 degrees. Wore my tan ripstop utility kilt; awesome!

Hey, okay...

Was rafting. I've no knees left at my age and hiking in is no longer an option. Do enjoy both the North and South Rims kilted. Sometimes get asked if I'm the one who'll be piping the sun up or down.

I've run into occasional tourists/travelers who are kilted, just out of common sense. Kilts are perfect for the Phoenix heat.

Great how they're cool in the heat and then hold the heat in cold weather.

It looks as if we wear the same shirt while kilted! Mine is from LLBean, and it's four years old, but still my favorite for hiking!
