Oh, but I haven't just started, I wore my first kilt at about age 6. (I still have it, along with my Montrose doublet, hose, lace Jabot, etc. I wish I knew where that little sporran was!) I just took a long break.

    Welcome from Sunny Southern California!

I came to kilt-wearing much later than you, I got my first kilt at the age of 18. I'd been playing the pipes for a year or so and it was time to get the outfit to go with it. 45 years kilted now.

Thanks again, all. So, I'm, taking bagpipe lessons, got a set of pipes, fixing (tailoring) my own kilt and jackets.

I have a Thos. Gordon and Sons kilt that was my Dad's. It's about 60 years old, maybe older. The straps and buckle tabs, which I can only assume were original, were pretty poor, in my view. I replaced the straps with new belt-leather ones I made, and made new buckle tabs, all per Robert MacDonald's method. The lining was very yellowed, so I've made a new lining, and it only remains now to stitch-in the lining.
