    Hello

    Hello all.

Been aware of this website for years, decided to pick up a COVID hobby of kilt making. Joined to access the wealth of knowledge on here from those that have tried before.

I'm a piper from Argyll so not exactly new to kilt wearing but new to making one.

May I suggest clicking on the link on the right for Barbara Tewksbury. She is the author of "The Art of Kiltmaking" which is accepted as the definitive source on the construction of kilts in the Traditional style.

Welcome from a fellow piper! Best of luck in your kiltmaking ventures.

I took Elsie Stuehmeyer's class, it was super. She apprenticed at Thomas Gordon & Son (Glasgow) in the 1950s and is co-author of The Art Of Kiltmaking. Amazing to see her sew pleats so quickly and perfectly without pinning or basting them.
