I was going to mention Scott Red Modern (see my avatar), but Bruce beat me to it!

Currently, I use my Campbell Ancient, but plan on eventually moving to the German Heritage tartan for my Christmas tartan

The Maxwell tartan, in various colorways, is very Christmas-y to my eye (red, green and black):

Thing is, around half the old tartans have red and green as their main colours.
Of those Royal Stewart is seen most often, I think it's safe to say.
What all have we seen Royal Stewart on? Carpet, sleeping-bag lining, dog beds and dog outfits, and of course wrapping paper.
I rest my case.

Last time I went out with my Celtic Nations kilt on, I got a comment that it was very festive and Christmas-y. I don't remember what kind of socks I was wearing at the time, but if paired with bottle green hose and red flashes, it tends to look very "festive" indeed.

I prefer my Armstrong tartan for Christmas. Of course, as it is the only one I own anymore, that also makes it the tartan I choose for everything. But, I've found the black, green, red, and hints of blue very complimenting to other tartan type things I've seen people wearing during Christmas.
Also, the colors make the Armstrong tartan match other colors that the Church uses throughout the year (green for Pentecost, red for martyrs, feasts of the cross, and fasting periods, blue for feasts of the Theotokos), so I find it no great hardship to wear my kilt to all festive occasions.

This combination felt pretty festive, too. Still Celtic Nations.
