    Hand Knit Balmoral

After a few sets of garter ties and a couple of pairs of hose, I decided to try a balmoral. I have a MacKie in fawn so I decided to try one in blue. After following the pattern, it was hard to believe that it would felt to look like a balmoral:

However, after the first attempt at felting, things were headed in the right direction:

A bit more felting and it was ready for the finishing touches:

    Added the grosgrain:

With everything finished, it was time to try it out:

Over the holidays, I got a 1920's clansman badge and figured I needed a balmoral for it as well. Went navy with blue and white dicing and a blue toorie. Also went a bit bigger on the crown than the first one. Pretty pleased with the result!

    Edit:

Gave it a first wearing last weekend as seen here:

First reaction, so 'will not dilute same:

    Oh, that is splendid!

As folks down south currently enjoying summer would say, "Well, good on yer, mate."

Wow, I really dig the look of the lighter blue toorie on the navy. Almost makes me want to pop the red one off of my own navy balmoral..
