The 5-yard is a really nice weight for everyday wear. Still looks the part of a formal kilt, but much lighter.

From another metro Chicagoan, a second on the additional usefulness of a 5-yard, over 8-yard kilt, for frequent daily-ish wear.

I have a pair of water proof hiking boots so I’ll give those a go. If going a bit more dressed up I’ll definitely break out the giant umbrella.

Welcome from southwestern Ontario.... In the good old days they wore a Kilt apron...... Canvas and mine is coated with sprayed waterproofing...

Welcome from the highlands of Southern Oregon. Normally, I only get to Corvallis for the Oregon Veterinary Conference. But this year's conference will be virtual, so no reason to go up there. Yet.
