Hey guys 😊 2 years ago I found out my father’s born surname was Cleland. I became obsessed and did my research using multiple platforms and matching times/names/and locations. I traced my lineage to Alexander Kneeland who married Margaret Wallace. I met someone through a clan page on fb who discouraged me that I wouldnt be able to prove the line.
Once I found out that Alexander Kneeland was an original Clan Chief and the history behind the name I felt a sense of pride. I later learned they haven’t had a clan chief for quite some time. Something to do with a fire on a ship. He pointed 1 gap in my family tree. As far as I know the clan is not recognized by Lord Lyon. I’m trying to connect with people who know about these things and what possibilities there are for me to connect to this part of my heritage and emerge myself in the culture. I’m also Native American and have strong ties to my current community which compels me to embrace both parts of me.
Thanks in advance for any info or even greetings.🤍🤍
