What makes me wonder about how crazy it will be is what happened to the only Games in a thousand-mile radius of Southern California that wasn't cancelled in 2020.

Everyone was planning to attend. Area hotels were sold out. It was going to be huge. Then as the time approached a snowballing effect happened, with more and more participants dropping out leading to more and more events being cancelled. Eventually there was very little that was going to happen there, and I too cancelled my trip.

I certainly hope nothing like that happens at Grandfather Mountain!

Thinking about it. I have some Family nearby, and would love to take them, but wonder about bringing a bunch of kids who are not likely to be vaccinated by then. Time will tell.

Excited to see you all! One of the best parts of Grandfather, I think, is getting to see so many old friends every year.

You may not recall as it's been a decent number of years at this point since I've been able to attend Grandfather, but we've met a couple times before!

Friday morning, @ChuckTN came by the Clan Sinclair tent to visit.

Right after he left, @Mael Coluim stopped by.

He took a picture of me and @carolinanan117.

I finally remembered to put my sporran on.

@rlloyd and his friend Jennifer came by several times during the weekend. We took this picture Sunday morning.

Thanks for posting those photos! Such a bummer I wasn't able to attend after all.

During the Great Shutdown my son and I (both furloughed from our jobs) made two trips to West Virginia to visit family. I usually do one such trip a year, so a third within the space of a year wasn't in the budget.

Besides, my workplace (Disneyland) re-opened at last, and all of us were scrambling to deal with the ensuing chaos.

Our last local Highland Games was the Queen Mary in Long Beach in February 2020.

Looks like a downsized Games will be held in Pleasanton this Labour Day, we shall see if it comes to pass as planned.
