Elizabethtown is beautiful area. I live about 45 minutes from Saranac Lake in the town of Saranac, but I spend a lot of time in Saranac Lake. It's such a great little town. It's funny; when I first moved to the area for college (in 2000), I heard a radio commercial for a Highland festival on (I believe) Whiteface. I didn't make it as I was shy and didn't know anyone well enough to ask for a ride. Of course, I think that was the only time I heard about the festival, and there's no such thing anymore (just Oktoberfest). I still wish I had found a way to get there!

I've never been through Broome County, but I've been close. I grew up in the Finger Lakes (specifically, on Cayuga Lake), but I never made it quite your way.

I tend to over-think and over-obsess about new projects, so it'll be a bit before I start sewing on my first kilt; I've been doing a lot of reading but still have some uncertainties about specific aspects of construction. Besides, I'm part-way through a new bathrobe, so I need to finish that project before I buy yardage for a new one.

As for the black flies. . . . I've lived here (in the mountains, in the woods, near a small brook) for almost 12 years, and they haven't carried me away yet. My luck is holding!

I have made 15 sporrans. Granted 2 are based on clan badges and 3 are different styles but the rest are basically because while was happy with the result over time I decided it could be better.

    Welcome

Welcome from a former Upstater. I grew up in the Catskills along the Hudson. Not as beautiful as the Adirondacks but a great place to grow up.
    Again, welcome.

Welcome from Texas, but I was born and raised in NY. Lived in Saranac Lake in the early 80s.
