Welcome from western Michigan. I do have to wonder if even a steel-toed work boot would protect from a accidental Clydesdale step.

Thanks, All.
I apologise: I wasn't aware there was a flat-cap versus Glengarry cold-war happening...
For the clydesdale fans, here's a pic of me 10 days ago at a show, driving our historical water cart.
We made the pic greyscale, then recoloured it for fun.
(But the Akubra hat really does look silly to me, above a kilt!)

If the Akubra hat with the kilt is not for you then its no big deal. However fashion does take second place to one's health as you well know and kilt attire is no exception. A panama is my choice when the sun shines down. We dont get your kind of heat -----I remember it well---- but with little air pollution in the Highlands here people can and do burn very easily.
The Glengarry is rarely----- almost never---- worn here, other than by band members and tourists

Welcome from the other side of town from Brian Rose in Michigan, USA!
I'm team flat cap. I think they look great with a kilt, just like they do when I'm driving my Model T. But opinions will differ.

Thanks for being one from the 'other end of the opinion table' re headwear!
To even the score, (or to prove my diplomacy) here's a bare-headed pic from our oldest daughter's wedding 4 years ago - walking her up the outdoor aisle!
P.S. What year of Model T ?
