Greetings from the Georgia Renaissance Festival!

Fun was indeed had in great measure on the Highland Weekend.
I sported my Murray of Atholl attire (kilt, flashes, kilt pin, cap badge with juniper), cockade of MacNeill of Barra tartan (literal tip of the cap to the Irish layover my Murray line had before arriving in US as well as to the O'Neill family of Kerry that I married into).
My wife leaned into the fantastical license of the fair with my eldest following suit as Link from the Zelda fantasy video game series.
My middle son apparently wanted to copy him...perhaps not in the way we'd expected....so the video game theme produced the well known Italian plumber...in a kilt for some reason. Huzzah for Ren Faires!
And of course our youngest, who has always been encouraged to be as girly -or- non-girly as she pleases: loves all things pink and princess-y...began as a princess, but later changed to join in the highland style.

Crowds were huge with people clearly happy to be out. Saw every style kilt possible from "period" traditional to steam punk pirate. Saw just a few great kilts, quite a kilts few on the lower end but being worn really well and clearly being thoroughly enjoyed. Wide range of modern variations on kilts (i.e. utilikilts), not my thing, but taken in with the totality of the Highland Weekend, the more kilts the merrier. Tunes provided by the John Mohr MacKintosh Pipes and Drums. Just a great time all around.

Happy to see people showing up! And having fun! Strengthens the immune system.

Years ago my then other half was president of the spinner's guild, and they provided demo folk to the festival. I got in free to help with setup and teardown and had
fun in between. Good folk to get to know and good memories.

Also good to know it still draws and allows folk to eat w/o being in an office. Nothing wrong with being in an office; just that some of us shrivel and fail to thrive in
that sort of environment. Personally, I enjoyed working, just don't like a lot of the places that working happens.

I missed the highland fling, but I was kilted at the final day of the festival yesterday. That place is always so much fun, I just wish they held it in the fall like they did a couple days last year. The heat and the sun get pretty tiring!

Agreed, and if the heat doesn't take you out, the 15 min torrential downpour at the end of the day sure will. Bright side, it cleared out the place then gave way to clear skies just in time for the few remaining attendees to get front row seats for the joust
