Welcome from Michigan, USA!
You might want to pick up a copy of Barb's book The Art of Kiltmaking:
https://www.amazon.com/Art-Kiltmakin...dp/0970375115/
It's an excellent book on the subject, and Barb's on this forum quite regularly if you need help.

from Scotland.
Israel is a beautiful country, I visited there in 1988.
I do not know any Israelis who are kilt wearers but I do know a few French who wear the Breton style kilt.
Enjoy the kilt!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.
I've seen Barbara's book being highly recommended here, but still wish to attempt to make my first kilt by myself.
So far I've only had time to plan out the kilt pleats and hem the fringed selvedge (a true woven selvedge fabric being to expensive for me right now, especially to experiment on).
I found the process more enjoyable than I had originally thought, and am glad I decided to hem with a blind stitch, although time consuming; the tartan pattern forced me to keep everything properly aligned, resulting in a perfectly straight edge with no visible stitches, yay!

being in Israel, I bet you're the only one that will be wearing a kilt, I salute your choice in fashion statements.

I wish you luck on your great sewing experiment! I have no talent myself, so I would never attempt it. But I can respect people that are so full of life that they'll take on a new experiment of that magnitude. From what I've read, it's involved. And not it's not cheap learning how to do it, because 5 or more yards of good fabric is costly. You've got some spirit.
Good luck, and welcome to the Great Rabble!
HOLD FAST!!
