I'm so sorry of this news. I never met the man, and only saw him post once or twice in the years I've been a member here, but someone with that evident joie de vivre and influence is deserving of fond respect and admiration.
Rest in peace, old friend I never knew.

This is indeed sad news. I remember Hamish's visit to Victoria and Vancouver many years ago, and of course from his huge contribution to XMTS. He was a true gentleman and I will miss him very much. Jamie, thank you for letting us know.

Sad News Indeed
Not unexpected, but still very very sad.
Hamish was an inspiration to so many. I don't know that I'd ever have owned as many kilts as I have without his showing the way - that kilts can be worn most anywhere.
He showed how kilts can be FUN. Perhaps a bit of a thorn in the side of self-appointed Kilt Police.
And he was a showcase for many kiltmakers to show their wares - particularly those at the edge of the envelope, and beyond.
Party on Hamish, Wherever you are, Party on!
I'm guessing right now he's probably already sold St. Peter on a kilt and is measuring him up.

If I may ask the help of the rabble.
Many of Hamish's photos were lost years ago so anyone with photos of Hamish would be a big help.

As Steve said, he was quick with a kind word and a compliment. I was very new to XMTS when I posted a photo of the first tartan kilt I ever made, worn with the "Hamish flair" of coordinated hose and shirt. He posted a "well done" message that meant a great deal, and still does.
I haven't donned one of my kilts in far too long, but I will dust one off very soon in his memory.
Rest well, Ham. And thanks.

Rip ham
How sad to hear the news that Ham has passed away, I have looked in my photos for photos of when Hamish and I had a trip to Scottland but alas I can’t find them, one was of us both in Xmarks tartan kilts doing the Hamish.
Hamish in the middle I’m to his right this is at a highland gathering near London
at least I found one at last
