Here's some pictures of the kilt I just finished, made from a $20 50/50 blend camping blanket. I wanted to see if I could make an acceptable daily wear kilt from it. Is it as nice as a 100% wool tartan traditional kilt, no and it isn't meant to be. is it good enough to run around town or hike or do yard work in, yes. Acceptable is subjective to begin with, but when you wear a kilt everyday, it's nice to have kilts in the same range as you would have pants, ie sweats (flannel), utility, casual(not canvas, not formal), and fancy(business suitish, formal). While the good stuff is nice, cheap doesn't neccessarily mean cheesy or bad looking. After all walmart slacks are still slacks, and not everyone can afford men's wharehouse let alone italian suits.
