    I'm new and I'm lost!

Hey y'all! I'm here to try to figure out what in the heck I'm doing - I'm kinda lost. I'm an advanced seamstress (I make historical clothing), however I'm waaaaay over my head!

Any videos out there for a visual learner?

Hello there. I make what might be called traditional garments - I used to do English Civil war stuff, basic tunics, more elaborate shirts, smocks, bodices and the like. I abandoned fashion completely some time in the previous century but I did take commissions - I can still be persuaded but the last one was a knitted pink cosy for a red phone box outside BBC Broadcasting House to advertise the return on The Clangers as it amused me.

I find that I use tailoring skills such as pressing to shape the wool fabric or drawing up areas using threads where the cloth will not distort, to shorten it so it can be made to fit and hang straight.

Once you see how the cloth needs to be manipulated it is a lot easier to understand.
