But you know it's weird. An hour ago, I preferred the HoE Hebridean with Lovat blue socks. Now I prefer the Lochcarron weathered with Lovat green socks.

    That "Hebridean" colour-scheme is lovely!

It would be a tough choice for me, between that and the Lochcarron 16oz weathered.

I'm in Southern California and it's warm here but I always prefer the feel and look of 16/17 ounce tartan over lighter weights.

However I do have one 13oz kilt (the Drummond Of Perth Muted mentioned above) and it's fine. I don't wear it often and when I first put it on it has a flimsy insubstantial feel, but soon I get used to it.

Though the 13oz and 16oz feel different to wear I don't think they look different when worn.

Which is why you get hose in each color. ;)

Great answer. I see that House of Cheviot makes Hebridean merino wool hose. I'll be ordering some of those.

This was the plaid the dry cleaners ruined. My first plaid. 4 yards of MacLeod of Harris Ancient. This was one of my first tries, didn't have the pleats right. took a while to get better at that. But OMG was it comfortable. I didn't want to take it off.
