    Question Sgian Dubh dimensions

Instead of dealing with a plastic-handled novelty knife of questionable provenance, I’ve decided to fabricate my own. Is anyone able or willing to measure their Sgian Dubh so I may build an accurate version?

    Best,

    John

I’ve included photos of several of mine which validates what Hauge said — somewhere between 7 and 8 inches.

    Only glad to help.

And with Shaun's great samples, there should be a bit of inspiration, to work with...

Best of luck, with Your project.

Thanks to all who replied with information on this thread. I’ve completed the blade itself; epoxied and pinned the handle scales, and will begin the finish work and handle shaping next week. I will post a thread when I’ve completed it.

    Hint for the handle: Purple!

There is something very nice about carrying a knife that you made yourself!

That one looks amazing. I think you mean pommel to tip, though; unless you’ve a really long leg that can wear a 7” blade.
