I went up for the first time in the fall to the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. I spent most of my time in Grand Teton. I stopped at my grandpa's farm in Logan. It brought back some great memories.
The weather was very nice. It did get down to 20 in the mornings on two days but even then was 60ish by mid morning or at least noon. I took to wearing leggings on one morning and "real" shoes and wool socks on the other. The leggings and socks both came off pretty soon after the photos as it has warmed up nicely.
I brought 3 kilts with me, Anderson, McKenzie and a new national park canvas kilt I've just started to sew patches on. The McKenzie is already pictured. So here is the Anderson and National Park
The fall colors were wonderful.
The drought was really changing the landscape. I was going to reshoot some pictures I took in the spring but the shore of the lake was probably 60 yards away from levels in the spring.
The bears were off work or at least it appeared so to me. I saw one little black (4 times) and a mother and cub grizzly. The moose seemed to have taken over the park. One day I saw 4 groups of a bull, cow and calf plus a couple of single bulls. There was a great eagle and a hawk. There was a wonder den and damn a beaver family had made into a beautiful wetlands. I did better with pika than any other trip which was great because I ove pika. I did find a couple of places I hiked that also had some great stones for lifting.
I stayed in a teepee two nights. The second night could have been a disaster as the staff got mixed up and took all my stuff out of the teepee while I was gone. I got back late and was pretty upset about the sleeping back as the nights was suppose to be 20 and I figured I would be miserable. There was no one at the office but the bartender at the bar was suppose to take care of things when it was closed. He did run down my bag with the cleaning staff so I didn't freeze but I didn't get my pillows or book back until the morning. I guess if I had a great kilt I could have found out how well they worked.
