    I have those buttons!

They had these, which look very nice in person. They have a pewter-y look, but with copper-y touches, hard to describe and harder to photograph.

The small ones are 14mm which fit the buttonholes on my PC waistcoat.

I have those very buttons! Purchased a few years ago at Hancock Fabrics, shortly before that chain went out of business, they are still waiting to be used on a black wool jacket conversion by @carolinanan117.

    stop buttons from spinning

It is pretty hard to keep square or diamond shaped buttons from spinning whilst being worn. Tension on the button is the key, I believe. Try a small rubber washer around the shank before it is sewn on. If it is tight enough, it should not spin due to the friction from the rubber. Just make sure your washers don't show from behind the face of your buttons. Conversely, a snap toggle, like the kind you find on clip on earrings, should work to keep them all aligned.

I found the maker of those round Celtic-knot buttons, TierraCast

    https://www.tierracast.com/buttons/?Theme=Round

As you see they have a large assortment of button themes.

Do you have photos for us to see? I think the pierced/openwork buttons would give a striking contrast

Do you mean of the buttons on their own, or on the Doublet?

Not the best picture I'm afraid. The original 1942 buttons on the left and the 1910 zoomorphic ones. I've now swapped back to the originals and will have the round ones on a blue velvet doublet that I'm corrently having made.

This one gives a better idea of the open design.

it is nice—did you plan on making scaled down copies for the waistcoat as well?

Making a smaller mold would be expensive and would undoubtedly lose some of the detail. I've opted for a reproduction of an Art Nouveau style that is sympathetic.
