Which has the better swoosh, knife or military rolled pleats?

Trying to decide on these two, I just wanted the pleats woth the most flair, I thought it would be knife pleats? Which do you prefer?

    Knife pleats, by far.

Military pleats swish forward and back as you walk, knife please swish side-to-side - you want knife pleats for a ballroom dance.

Military rolled pleats and military box pleats are different animals.

Both styles will swish side to side just as any other pleat style.

And the swish of pleats is dependent on the amount or weight of fabric, the weave of the fabric, the length, and the skill of the kilt maker far more than the style of pleating.

Ooh yeah then I'll definitely go for the knife pleats, love that side to side swagger. Thanks!

Ah, pardon my ignorance! I've never seen military rolled pleats - only the boxed ones.

steve, thank you for putting the effort to post these from your workshop. Are there any YouTube videos where I can see the military rolled in action? To my untrained eye in most footage I can’t really make out which is which from a good distance & see how they perform

Just look for any video of the current Royal Regt. of Scotland. Their kilts are military box pleated.
