    G'day from down under

Well having been a member for about a week I finally have got around to realising that I needed to post here and introduce myself.

4th generation Australian with Scottish ancestry on both parents side with my paternal side traceable back at least 6 generations. We are originally from Dalhousie, midlothian district, south of Edinburgh, which I guess makes us Lowlanders.

I love my Scottish heritage and Celtic roots with two Ramsay kilts;- one red & one blue(hunting)- hanging in the wardrobe along with a recently discovered Urquhart Kilt and accessories (see Historical Plaid posting in general for more info on that one) The Red I keep for formal occasions such as black tie weddings etc and the Blue I wear whenever one would a jacket / tie, such as elegant dining, live theatre or an engagement party etc. I really enjoy being able to dress up or down depending on the event; for example at my niece's 21st recently I pulled on the Blue Kilt with a belt and buckle no sporran then nice Grey shirt. For another niece's wedding I went up scale a bit, kept with the Blue being an afternoon / outdoor event, a Ghillie shirt, no Jacket and Fly Plaid. I did have the DJ and barman a bit concerned about the extent of underwear when performing the nutbush on the dance floor. I also had to remind a female attendee that the lassies don't appreciate us lads trying to see up their dresses so could she refrain from trying to peer up my Kilt!!!!

Youngest daughter is getting married next year so will need to be full formal for that event so the Red with vest and Argyle Jacket are required to walk her down the Aisle but I will admit the what shirt is still to be decided. I think I am leaning towards the collared with a Cravat all in white or possibly just red to match the Kilt however Ramsay red is quite striking and a red cravat could be too much.

Enough from me for now, glad to have been welcomed on board and I look forward to further reading of tales and kilted humour along with learning of different experiences we all have.
