    The Sadness of Clan Chattan

The last few years have been difficult ones for the Clan Chattan. In that time we have experienced the sad passing of four of our chiefs, John Shaw of Tordarroch, Sir William Macpherson of Cluny and Blairgowrie, Capt. Alwyn Farquharson of Invercauld, and yesterday James McBain of McBain. We have also said farewell to Margaret McBain of McBain and Sylvia Shaw of Tordarroch.

A gradual changing of the guard, generation by generation. Inevitable, but so very sad.

Into the future, however, we are brightened by the emergence in place of a new generation: James Macpherson 28th of Cluny, Philip Farquharson 17th of Invercauld, Iain Shaw 23rd of Tordarroch and Richard McBain 23rd of McBain.

And Davidson shares both the sadness and the hope of our allied clans.
