Your response made me smile. I suppose I appreciate finger wagging as much as the next guy.
The tradition I mention had nothing to do with tenets of any religion I'm familiar with; rather, everything to do with the tradition of my family. That was their choice.
But you're right - those days are over for us. My family's linguistic tradition died with my father. I speak seven languages and Gaelic, alas, isn't one off them.

Just so you know discussions about religion , other than in passing, is a major no-no on this website, for very good reasons, so perhaps discussing the weather might be safer?
I used to speak Gaelic as a wee lad but lost that skill when my parents moved us South after WW2 . Now I just struggle with English!

Agreed! Or, even better, our common love for Highland were!
