    halloween and oakglen hike

My grandson Emmett was going to go as a highlander but had some fears of being teased (He is teased by other kids for being fat and even a doctor told him he was too fat (the day before he played in 2 basketball games for a city team and played in his last little game of the season. The week before he went on a 5 mile over night backpacking trip with his father) anyway he changed his mind and went as a Scottish astronaut.

My daughter made the costumes from thrift store buys (sweaters for chain mail ect) or sewed them and I made the helmet, gimli's axe, the bracers, the hobbit's cloak clasps and other assorted knives from leather.

My wife and I went to oak glen to hike
I really like this one. The feel just attracts me. She stands in the cold foggy morning. She hadn't brought enough to stay warm so I gave her the shirts I had brought to keep me warm

Me after the hike when the fog had burned off. I wore my new anderson. I am replacing the others as I had finally made it back under 200 pounds. 20 years ago I reached a high of 300 and could no longer look in the mirror and "yep still got it" I finally had to say you got it but way too much of it. It has been a very slow and steady work of slow 20 ish pounds then a lot of plateaus but now I felt I needed to show off my girlish figure. The other thing is I found a company that does length for basically off the rack and not just 24 standard and at 5'8" that's too long for me and my gimli legs.
