May I suggest that you not worry so much about getting a second, better kilt. I would suggest that you spend some time researching how to baste and press a kilt. Make the kilt you have look its best, and then wear what you have.
OK, it may not be an $800.00 kilt. Who cares? It is what you have and what you can honor your grandmother with. I can guarantee that it will be that you were there for her and cared for her and not what you wore that will be important and remembered.
Then, when and if you decide on a second kilt, you will know what you want and what you can afford. Let's be honest, not everyone can afford $800.00-$900.00 for a kilt and $300.00-$400.00 for a jacket and a few hundred more for the accessories.
It is a shame really, and some sort of N. American thing, to imply that if you do not spend a fortune on your kilt and tweed outfit that you are somehow letting your heritage down.
