Electric Mackenzie silk kilt

I’m sure the traditionalists are experiencing nervous twitches just in reading the title on this one…. Let alone the product itself… But I think it’s gorgeous! The colour and something that’s 100% silk and made in Scotland. I’d buy it in an instant but I just don’t have $700+ to burn on something, as cool as it may be.

The company is Siobhan Mackenzie. They seem to have a very playful attitude toward modern Highland attire.

Victorian gentlemen night well have had a silk kilt, shirt, lace and hose for evening wear, in a more standard format of course, but silk none the less.

Siobhan Mackenzie has received some write-ups in the fashion press and awards for her creative approach to kilts, tartan, and tweed. Definitely not traditional, but certainly no more far out than some of the Geoffrey (Tailor) or Utilikilt designs that have found a sizable following. And I definitely prefer silk over acrylic, rayon, polyester and most other "alternatives" to wool being sold for kilting.
