Too tight or too loose?

Hey folks,As I said in my newby post, I just got my first kilt. Actually, I have a couple.
I am at this point primarily interested in utility kilts.

I just received two identical kilts black sport kilts made by DNKE.
One is sm/med (35-36) and the other is medium, (37-38) The smaller feels quite snug, the larger feels like it will slide down if I make myself skinny.

The smaller causes my belly to hang over just a bit.
On the larger, If I tighten the hip straps, it seems to sit at my hips, but the waist feels just a bit loose.

If you had a choice, would you keep the tighter one or the looser one?

It would depend where you think your weight is going in the future...

Do you have to let one go? I'd rather just keep them both to be covered for some weight fluctuation up or down. If I could only keep one, I'd keep the larger one and wear a belt. You can cinch down a loose kilt (within reason) using a belt, but there's no easy way to make a tight kilt fit better.

Of course, I don't know anything about that style of kilt, so I could be wrong. They don't have any adjustment?
