I was but a lowly Able Seaman Stoker and I am not qualified to wear such finery.
(It would be against the law for me to do it, as a matter of fact.)

In the States you can wear the coat, but no insignia. Is it different in Canada?

In Canada, all ranks wear the same uniform, the accoutrements are different. There is nothing stoping a civilian wearing the suit, as long as it has no insignia, rank nor markings (and they don’t claim to be military). Once out, even veterans are not allowed to were the uniform again. I still have mine in the closet though.

While I went army (RCEME), 78 years ago, my dad was a lowly Stoker on board the Iroquois.

No insignia, rank of or especially medals. It is a federal crime to wear someone else's medals in Canada. They even tried to stop us Veterans from wearing components out of own uniforms even from long obsolete uniforms but that was rescinded. Maybe, the government in power figured out that a lot of us are Seniors and our demographic is the most likely to vote.

I have a Naval Veteran mate who served on Iroquois in Korea. He's about 90 now but doing okay.
If you want to tour her sister, HMCS Haida has been preserved in Hamilton ON.
The only big difference being that Iroquois was built in Canada and Haida in England.
